Bruins 5, Devils 4: Gregory Campbell scored twice to double his season total and Daniel Paille added a short-handed goal and an assist as visiting Boston moved one point ahead of idle Montreal into first place in the Northeast Division.

Captain Zdeno Chara recorded a power-play goal, Tyler Seguin also tallied and veteran Jaromir Jagr and Rich Peverley each notched a pair of assists. Anton Khudobin turned aside 24 shots for the Bruins, who killed off eight power plays to record their 11th win in 12 meetings against the Devils.

Patrik Elias, Matt D'Agostini and defenseman Andy Greene scored and Travis Zajac added a short-handed goal for New Jersey, which is winless in its last eight games (0-4-4). The Devils fell four points out of eighth place after the New York Rangers skated to a 3-2 shootout win over Toronto on Wednesday.

Campbell snapped a 22-game goalless drought at 1:10 of the first period after cleaning up the rebound of Jagr's shot from the slot. After Paille doubled the advantage at 4:51 of the session by converting a 2-on-1 rush, Campbell netted the team's second short-handed goal after redirecting defenseman Andrew Ference's point shot past Martin Brodeur (13 saves).

Chara poked a loose puck home to extend Boston's lead to 4-0 lead before New Jersey began to chip away. Elias and Zajac scored later in the second period before Greene's wrist shot from the left circle brought the Devils within one. Seguin stopped the surge 1:35 later by tapping home Paille's centering feed to give Boston a 5-3 lead.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Devils' eight-game winless streak was their first since the 1991-92 season. ... Bruins LW Brad Marchand exited the contest late in the second period after he was hit in the head by the left elbow of New Jersey D Anton Volchenkov. Marchand needed assistance to get off the ice and did not return to the contest. Volchenkov received a five-minute major and a game misconduct. ... Boston D Johnny Boychuk was awarded a penalty shot early in the first period after he was hooked by New Jersey D Marek Zidlicky on a short-handed breakaway. Brodeur denied Boychuk by stacking his pads on the penalty shot. ... Devils captain Bryce Salvador injured his wrist after blocking a shot from Chara. Salvador exited the contest after Chara scored a goal.
