Tyler Bertuzzi scored the go-ahead goal with 3:24 remaining, Dylan Larkin supplied two goals and an assist, and the visiting Detroit Red Wings recovered after giving away a three-goal lead to down the Columbus Blue Jackets 5-3 on Tuesday.
Bertuzzi's goal came after the Jackets erased a 3-0 deficit during the third period. Rookie defenseman Dennis Cholowski skated in from the point and went around the back of the net. He shoveled the puck toward the front, where Bertuzzi snared it and beat Sergei Bobrovsky just below the crossbar.
Larkin added an empty-net tally at 19:17 to put the game away.
Detroit snapped a seven-game losing streak against Columbus. Michael Rasmussen scored his first career goal and Anthony Mantha scored for the second time in two games. Jimmy Howard made 34 saves for the win.
Josh Anderson, Markus Nutivaara and Pierre-Luc Dubois scored for the Blue Jackets.
Columbus goalie Joonas Korpisalo was removed during the opening period after giving up three goals on seven shots. Bobrovsky made 23 saves on 24 shots.
The Wings played arguably their best period of the season in the first, racing to a 3-0 lead.
Detroit was awarded a power play 52 seconds into the game. The Wings capitalized when Thomas Vanek flicked a pass from behind the Columbus goal and Rasmussen fired it in from just inside the left circle.
Columbus not only came up empty on its first power play, but the Wings increased their lead a man down. Larkin scored on a breakaway 9:30 into the game after picking up a loose puck at the blue line.
Larkin then set up a two-on-one opportunity with a pass from inside his zone. Mantha was the recipient at center ice, and he skated in along the right side and found the back of the net, ending Korpisalo's night.
Anderson beat Howard at the 2:48 mark of the third for Columbus' first goal.
Nutivaara scored his first goal of the season little more than seven minutes later to make it 3-2. Markus Hannikainen backhanded a pass from the boards, and Nutivaara beat Howard on the stick side.
Dubois tied it with 8:39 left when he zipped by two defensemen and squeezed the puck past Howard on the short side.
