Moritz Seider scored his first NHL goal at 2:45 of overtime to give the visiting Detroit Red Wings a 4-3 win over the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday.
Seider, a rookie defenseman, skated in from the left side after collecting a Tyler Bertuzzi pass and ripped a shot inside the post as the Wings snapped a four-game losing streak. Bertuzzi had two third-period goals, Pius Suter contributed a goal and an assist and Lucas Raymond added three assists. Alex Nedeljkovic made 29 saves.
Tage Thompson, Rasmus Dahlin and Arttu Ruotsalainen scored for Buffalo, while Dustin Tokarski stopped 29 shots.
Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin missed his third consecutive game for undisclosed personal reasons.
The Red Wings scored 16 seconds into the contest. Bertuzzi stole the puck from behind the Sabres net and passed it out front. Raymond took several whacks at it before Suter jammed it into the net for his second goal this season.
Thompson tied it at 11:32 of the second period with his fourth goal. He brought the puck into the Detroit zone and forwarded it to Jeff Skinner. He moved behind the Wings net and passed it in front to Thompson for the one-timer. Rasmus Asplund picked up the second assist.
Buffalo moved ahead with a power play goal at 12:36. With Joe Veleno in the penalty box, Dahlin beat Nedeljkovic with a shot from the point. Will Butcher and Asplund picked up the assists.
Ruotsalainen made it 3-1 at 6:08 of the third period. Ruotsalainen outfought a defenseman and banged in a rebound off a Colin Miller shot. John Hayden collected the second assist.
Bertuzzi's first goal of the game came at 13:24 of the period. From the right circle, he took a pass from Danny DeKeyser and fired it past Tokarski. Raymond had the second assist.
Bertuzzi got behind the Buffalo defense less than two minutes later and beat Tokarski again to tie it. Suter and Raymond were credited with the assists.
