Tim Stutzle's overtime winner gave the Ottawa Senators a 3-2 victory over the visiting Edmonton Oilers on Monday.
With 38 seconds remaining in a wild overtime period, Stutzle took a pass from Brady Tkachuk and fired from the circle, sneaking the puck past goalie Mikko Koskinen.
It was Stutzle's eighth goal of the season, and the second-year forward's first overtime winner in the NHL.
Thomas Chabot had a goal and an assist for the Senators, and Tkachuk had two assists. Nick Paul collected Ottawa's other goal.
Matt Murray was solid against Edmonton's offensive pressure, stopping 37 of 39 shots in the Senators' net. Murray is 4-0-2 with a .939 save percentage over his last six outings.
The victory ended Ottawa's two-game losing streak. After losing all nine meetings with the Oilers last season, the Senators are 2-0-0 against Edmonton this season.
The overtime loss extended Edmonton's points streak to five games (4-0-1), though the Oilers missed a chance at their second five-game winning streak of the season.
Connor McDavid and Darnell Nurse each scored for the Oilers, with both goals bringing Edmonton level after Ottawa had taken the lead.
Chabot opened the scoring at 11:32 of the opening period. His wrist shot from the circle was initially stopped by Koskinen, but the rebound bounced into the air and over the goalie, with Stutzle also in front of the net causing a distraction.
McDavid equalized less than a minute later, as the Oilers capitalized on a Senators line change. Evan Bouchard used the extra space to find a wide-open McDavid entering Ottawa's zone, and McDavid converted his 22nd marker of the season.
Paul restored the Senators' lead on a power-play goal at 17:09 of the second period. Murray stopped a shot from Erik Brannstrom, but Paul was in position to deposit the rebound for his eighth goal of the season.
The Oilers tied things up once more in the third period. A crisp passing play set up Nurse with an open net, allowing the defenseman to score and extend his points streak to four games.
Koskinen stopped 28 of 31 shots.
