Jason Dickinson ripped a one-timer from the slot past Detroit goaltender Thomas Greiss 1:32 into overtime to give the host Dallas Stars a 2-1 victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday.

Dickinson received a backhanded pass from John Klingberg and fired it over Greiss' left shoulder. Klingberg scored the Stars' regulation goal and ninth power play tally in three games. Anton Khudobin made 20 saves.

Vladislav Namestnikov scored the lone goal for Detroit. It was his first since signing with the Red Wings as a free agent during the offseason. Greiss was credited with 20 saves.

Detroit was still missing a handful of players due to COVID-19 protocols, including forwards Filip Zadina and Robby Fabbri.

The Stars were playing just their third game after having four postponements due to virus-related issues.

Dallas finished the game 1 of 4 on the power play, while the Red Wings came up empty in all three of their opportunities. No player on either side had more than three shots on goal.

There weren't a lot of quality chances in the opening period, when both teams only recorded six shots on goal.

The Wings didn't have a shot on goal until Namestnikov scored on a backhander that went through Khudobin's five-hole at 11:37. Taro Hirose set him up with a pass from behind the net. Givani Smith also recorded an assist.

Dallas' potent power play got its second opportunity early in the second period when Filip Hronek was whistled for slashing Justin Dowling.

The Stars won the faceoff and Klingberg ripped a shot from the point that eluded Greiss' left shoulder. Denis Gurianov and Joe Pavelski were credited with assists at 5:27.

The Stars held a 17-12 advantage in shots on goal after two periods.

Detroit had a power play opportunity with 4:09 remaining when Rhett Gardner was called for hooking Anthony Mantha. Khudobin made four saves over the next two minutes to keep the game tied.

The teams will play once again in Dallas on Thursday.
