Jonathan Toews and Alex DeBrincat scored in a shootout and Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 42 shots against his former team to lift the host Chicago Blackhawks to a 3-2 victory against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday night.

A pair of second-period goals staked the Blackhawks to a seemingly comfortable lead, as Jujhar Khaira and Seth Jones tallied the first goals of their Chicago careers.

Jeff Carter scored twice in the third period as Pittsburgh outshot Chicago 20-5 in the final 20 minutes and 44-32 for the game.

The Blackhawks regrouped to secure their first winning streak of the season while sending the Penguins to their fifth loss in six games. Chicago remains unbeaten under interim coach Derek King, who won his debut Sunday after replacing Jeremy Colliton, who was fired the day before.

Khaira opened the scoring at 2:14 of the second period, beating Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry on a slick, cross-crease pass from Toews. Jones scored from the right circle 13:39 later to stretch his points streak to five games. Patrick Kane notched the primary assist.

Carter drew the Penguins to within a goal with 14:26 left in the third period, busting the shutout bid of Fleury, who spent the first 13 seasons of his career in Pittsburgh, winning three Stanley Cups.

Carter tied the game at 2 with 4:17 to go in regulation, slipping a shot past Fleury as the net was knocked off its frame. Jarry saved a breakaway opportunity for the Blackhawks' Mike Hardman moments earlier.

Jake Guentzel had two assists for Pittsburgh. Jarry made 30 saves.

Kane hit the goalpost on a 2-on-0 chance for the Blackhawks midway through overtime. Pittsburgh had a chance to score in the closing seconds of regulation, but Bryan Rust shot an open rebound over the crossbar.

The Blackhawks have won eight straight home games against the Penguins dating to Feb. 20, 2011.

Brandon Hagel (left shoulder) and MacKenzie Entwistle (left ankle) both missed the game for Chicago due to injury. The Blackhawks placed Entwistle on long-term injured reserve before Tuesday's morning skate. He is expected to miss 4-6 weeks.
