Sebastian Aho scored two goals to go with an assist as the Carolina Hurricanes held off the host Edmonton Oilers for a 3-1 victory Saturday night.

Aho posted his 14th and 15th goals of the season by scoring in the first and third periods and teammate Nino Niederreiter had a second-period goal as the Hurricanes improved to 3-0 on what's scheduled to be a five-game road trip.

Goalie Frederik Andersen made 22 saves.

The Oilers scored on Ryan Nugent-Hopkins' goal just after the midway mark of the second period, but their losing streak was extended to five games. The past four of those have come at home.

Goalie Mikko Koskinen stopped 28 shots for the Oilers.

Edmonton managed only four shots on goal in the second period. They also had that many through about 12 minutes of the third period, though they ended up with nine shots in the final period.

Andersen, who's in his first season with Carolina, holds a 16-1-2 career record against the Oilers. His good work included a couple of stellar saves on Oilers standout Connor McDavid in the first period.

Edmonton's only two power plays in the game came in the third period. The Hurricanes had a 2-on-1 shorthanded breakaway on the second of those situations, but Aho couldn't connect on a pass sent in his direction so the score stayed at 2-1 until his second goal a few minutes later.

The Hurricanes opened the scoring with Aho's power-play goal in the first period.

Niederreiter padded the lead in with his goal that came 6:19 into the second period. Then Nugent-Hopkins got the Oilers on the board.

Aho's second goal came off an Edmonton turnover with 2:44 remaining, so it was unassisted. The speedy center has five goals in a three-game span.

Carolina forward Vincent Trocheck played in his 500th career game. He had the primary assist on Aho's first goal.

The Hurricanes improved to 8-2-1 in their last 11 road games.
