Scott Wedgewood made 38 saves through regulation and overtime, then didn't yield a goal in the shootout, leading the Arizona Coyotes to a 3-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday in Denver.

The result ended the Avalanche's 10-game overall winning streak and their 18-game home winning streak. The Coyotes snapped a five-game losing streak.

Alex Galchenyuk scored a regulation goal and collected the only tally in the shootout, and Lawson Crouse also scored for Arizona.

Nazem Kadri and Mikko Rantanen had goals and Darcy Kuemper stopped 22 shots for Colorado.

Colorado had several chances to take the lead in the first period, including a five-on-three power play late in the frame. The Coyotes were able to kill off both penalties and keep it scoreless at the first intermission.

The Avalanche picked up the intensity and finally struck early in the second period. Kadri intercepted a pass by Arizona's Dysin Mayo at the bottom of the left circle. He drifted by the front of the net and then roofed a backhander over Wedgewood at 2:42 for his 19th goal of the season.

The Coyotes were able to get the equalizer later in the period. Galchenyuk took a pass from Ilya Lyubushkin and sent a backhand shot through traffic and past Kuemper at 12:54. It was his first goal of the season.

Colorado got the lead back just before the second intermission. Andre Burakovsky got the puck in the defensive zone and skated down the left side on a three-on-two rush. He passed to Rantanen on the right side as they entered the Arizona end, and Rantanen's snap shot beat Wedgewood through the pads at 19:17.

It was Rantanen's team-leading 24th of the season.

Wedgewood came off for an extra skater with 1:21 left in regulation, and the Coyotes cashed in when Crouse tapped in a rebound at 19:22 to tie it. It was his 11th of the campaign.

Arizona got a power play in overtime when Valeri Nichushkin went off for tripping, but the Avalanche were able to kill it off.
