Johnny Gaudreau scored 37 seconds into overtime and the Calgary Flames beat the Colorado Avalanche 4-3 in Denver on Saturday night.

Gaudreau added two assists, Elias Lindholm had two goals and an assist, Erik Gudbranson scored a goal, Matthew Tkachuk had three assists and Dan Vladar made 32 saves for Calgary.

Nathan MacKinnon, Andre Burakovsky and Gabriel Landeskog scored goals, Nazem Kadri and Valeri Nichushkin had two assists each, and Pavel Francouz stopped 21 shots after replacing Darcy Kuemper for Colorado.

The Avalanche got control to start overtime but Lindholm got the puck in his own end and hit Gaudreau with a stretch pass. He went in alone on Francouz and beat him with a snap shot to give the Flames their 13th win in 15 games.

Colorado jumped on top with a goal just 42 seconds into the game. Kadri sent the puck to the front from behind the net and Landeskog tipped it in for his 30th goal of the season.

The Flames answered less than two minutes later when Kuemper was called for a delay of game to put Calgary on the power play. Just five seconds in, Lindholm scored on a snap shot from the right circle at 2:29.

The Avalanche went back in front late in the first when Alex Newhook fed Burakovsky at the right circle and he beat Vladar at 18:18, his 18th of the season.

The Flames evened it when Lindholm's one-timer beat Kuemper at 19:24 of the first. It was his 27th of the season.

Calgary took a 3-2 lead early in the second period when Gudbranson's shot from the point went off the left post and in at 1:27. That ended Kuemper's night, who allowed three goals on just 15 shots.

Colorado tied it when Cale Makar brought the puck out of the Avalanche zone, passed it to Kadri, who passed it to MacKinnon. His quick shot from the slot beat Vladar to make it 3-3 at 9:40 of the second.

It was MacKinnon's 17th of the season.
