Tyler Toffoli scored a pair of second-period goals as the Pacific Division-leading Calgary Flames continued their blazing-hot run with a 3-1 victory over the visiting Edmonton Oilers on Monday.

Johnny Gaudreau added a goal and an assist, while Jacob Markstrom had 27 saves as Calgary earned a point in its fifth consecutive game (4-0-1). The Flames improved to 16-2-1 since Jan. 24, and they are 12-0-1 in their past 13 home games.

Toffoli, who was acquired from the Montreal Canadiens on Feb. 14, had his second multi-goal game with his new team, with both coming in the past five contests. He has seven goals and 10 points over his first 10 games with Calgary.

Devin Shore scored a goal and Mikko Koskinen had 26 saves as the Oilers lost their third consecutive game (0-2-1). Edmonton is 2-5-1 following a five-game winning streak that came immediately after former coach Dave Tippett was fired.

Toffoli gave the Flames a 1-0 lead on the power play at 6:27 of the second period. Matthew Tkachuk nearly fanned on a backward, between-the-legs pass but got enough on the puck to have it trickle to Toffoli, who scored from in front of the crease.

Gaudreau had a secondary assist on Toffoli's first goal, making him the fourth player in the NHL this season to reach 50 assists.

Toffoli delivered again a mere 3 1/2 minutes later, taking a pass from Adam Ruzicka while on the rush and blistering a shot from the left faceoff circle past Koskinen.

Shore got the Oilers within 2-1 when he scored at 4:57 of the third period. The puck rebounded off the skate of an official and toward the Calgary goal with Derek Ryan taking a shot before Shore converted the rebound, his third goal of the campaign.

Gaudreau's 23rd goal of the season, raising his team-leading points total to 73, came with just under three minutes remaining.

Calgary prevailed in the opener of a stretch in which it will play five games in seven days, the first four of those at home.
